Are you ready to make a difference?

For over 30 years, Kirklees Summer Camp has offered unforgettable Duke of Edinburgh residential opportunities. As an officially approved provider, we’ve welcomed hundreds of young people who wanted to do more than just tick a box - they wanted to make a difference.

Our DofE residentials are about more than five days and four nights at camp. They’re about gaining hands-on experience, developing transferable skills like teamwork, communication, and leadership, and discovering just how much you’re capable of. You’ll work alongside experienced volunteers, support children through exciting activities, and become part of the team that makes camp such a special place.

We’re also one of the most accessible and affordable residential providers in the UK — keeping costs low so that every young person has the chance to take part. Many of our long-standing volunteers began their journey here as DofE participants, and some have even returned year after year, building lifelong friendships and skills that endure long after camp. Could this summer be the start of your journey?

Change your summer

Being a DofE volunteer at camp is one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll find. You’ll join us for a 5-day residential full of teamwork, activities, and real responsibility.

  • You’ll be paired with an experienced leader who will support you throughout.

  • You’ll spend time directly with children as well as helping with cooking, serving, and keeping camp running.

  • It’s full-on, with long days (7.30am–10pm) — but incredibly worthwhile.

  • You’ll leave knowing you’ve helped children create memories that last a lifetime.

D of E Feedback

I loved how much the young volunteers and theDofEs interacted, as it really brought us closer together and felt at home in camp life.

Kirklees Summer Camp was like nothing I have ever experienced and I could not have asked for a better residential. Thank you everyone!
